ONE problem with this story is that when this meeting was set up, Fusion was probably being paid by a still-unnamed Republican.https://twitter.com/HallieJackson/status/883841105128706048 …

I think Trump is arguing something else: that the firm being paid by Trump opponents to find RU dirt in fact sent it themselves.
I in no way buy Trump's response. But I think it will be effective bc the whole Fusion story stinks.
(Note we still don't know who leaked the copy of the dossier that came out and whether that was tampered with.)
The accusation is in reference to the meeting, not the dossier. Did I miss a connection?
Yes. The firm that did the dossier was ALSO working the anti-Magnitsky stuff w/a former GRU member.
Sent what themselves? The dossier or the RU attorney? Steele wasn't hired by Fusion until mid-June after Trump was presumed Nom.
No. But Fusion was already doing oppo on Trump.
Right but again - it doesn't make sense they'd burn one of both of their clients by trying to "set up" Trump team.
Trump will argue there was no real RU dirt, and that Fusion manufactured it by setting up this meeting, to get $$.
Oh no doubt - but as with all things Trump it's illogical and total bullsh*t.
It's bullshit. But it will likely work, bc oppo research is a stinky business.
Will work w/many low-info voters who still support #tRUMP
But not all
Looks like each bombshell thins his support
