That said way back when I was only out straight girl on rugby team, they were surprised I'd share bed w/them. I did w/few male teammates b4.

Anyway, this appears, at first blush, to be
@nytimes trying to normalize the freakish behavior of our 46th president. -
If the polling is valid I think it's an important lesson abt how hard-wired gender roles still are for most of the country.
-
@nytimes needs to explain the timing of this poll. But I believe the damage is done, even when it is exposed as statistically dubious. -
IS it statistically dubious?
-
I don't know. And I don't expect anyone is going to verify this work.

There are a lot of areas where gaps bt coast and flyover are overblown. Not here. Really liberal people shocked I'll travel w/men, etc.
-
yep, all of that makes sense, and points to some core values i don't have a bead on.
-
It also helps to explain why people still struggle w/LBGTQ issues: bc their own gender roles are based on innate distrust.
-
well, also, their sense of social place is based on a very hard construct of gender.

Wow wow wow. Do the people in this survey not, like, have a job? I can't imagine not working closely w/ men. That's tech life.
-
Right? I mean MAYBE the drinking with men (ha!). But the dinners?
-
People have such a low opinion of other people. (Or themselves?) But then, given 2016, maybe I have too much faith in humanity.
-
Dunno if you agree that this is more common in Flyover, but maybe not Ann Arbor/LV. I do get it here.
-
Little Rock had kind of a different vibe. They didn't understand me, single woman in her 30s, but they were friendly.

I guess they didn't poll gay couples?
-
Right. As I said to
@quinnnorton, goes a long way towards explaining why people still struggle w/LGBTQ issues: bc gender based on distrust -
ah, right, just saw that. I sat on my tweet too long ;)
