WaPo has done a very good job of claiming Mitch McConnell was evil for not making a statement that preceded IC attribution last fall.

He wasn't being asked to make attribution. Was being asked to say, "Hey Russia, we know you're attacking our election process. Cut it out!"

Because CIA was holding close to vest and McConnell knew more than most of IC at that point.

McConnell knew more than Jeh Johnson and James Clapper, the people who had not yet attributed?

That the DHS/DNI were not yet ready to sign off on certainty means yes. And I'm not saying actually knows more, just big picture view.

Sorry. It is the height of irresponsibility to expect MoCs to serve as cutouts for IC conclusions the IC itself won't state publicly.

You're thinking that Obama+MoCs present united front and then IC doesn't immediately and publicly back them up?

So you're affirmatively supporting the politicization of intelligence? The political branches make claims and the IC has to come along?

No, simply that IC state what willing to state+DHS/DNI ongoing. With bipartisan "We will be united in response." - ought to have been enough

Which is what McConnell signed.

Wasn't a signing moment. It was time to preempt TV and have Obama+Gang of Eight & forcefully denounce. Plus HRC+DJT if DJT goes along.
