So Wray is a political henchman then? Am I hearing you right?
This is so absurdly clear you either need a hearing aid or more coffee.
To be precise, Wray worked for DOJ & leaked FBI info about an investigation of Exec branch folks to the Exec branch. His new job is DOJ/FBI…
He didn't leak. He briefed. Different thing. But still relevant here.
If the "brief is illegal" it is called a leak. DOJ is not supposed to inform Executive Branch of DOJ business if EXEC is the target.
Wray was AAG, reporting to AG Ashcroft. This was him briefing his boss, not DOJ briefing WH.
Mea culpa telling @matthewstoller was "clear" Wray was a 'political henchman' based on this. Kosher, if unsettling, given current parallels.
Ha, no worries. This stuff is so arcane I rely on Marcy for even cursory conclusions.
Let me know if you want to know how Wray screwed up Enron investigation.
Two generations from now the reanimated corpse of Warren Christopher will lead a D.C. Investigation.
Yeah
Great work EmptyWheel !
this problem seems to be a Republican one...
Oh, god, that's tasty. Trump is an post-modern artist in incompetent corruption.
Wray was at King & Spalding with former Sen./current DNI Dan Coats, who did a stint there b/t his senate service (and shepherded Alito)
