Errr most of that sector stays in place under single payer, no? It's just the insurance industry itself, not all of health care, at risk?

Much of the sector does but it's nowhere near 16% of the economy anymore. We might have to learn to make widgets again.

Health insurance overhead isn't 16% of GDP - more like 3-5% of GDP. Providers are going to have to cut prices for us to get to OECD norms
