It sounds like there's more than just the name of the city. Where did all the "codeword classified" talk come from?

It's possible that was inserted to frame the discussion, but linking something like codewords with the city helps Russia reverse engineer it

Russia is not going to use a laptop bomb on a plane. Why would they? They're doing all the damage they want with cyberattacks.
-
I don't mean that. But they're fighting a war in Syria and don't particularly care about ISIS. We run NSA, CIA, etc., to figure them out,
-
Russia is protecting Assad, which was almost thrown out of office by ISIS. Sure they care.
-
Threat to Assad was from combined uprising, not from ISIS itself. Ru+Assad have largely ignored them and used them to weaken other rebels
-
so they care, yes, but not particularly care. Being able to work out details of America + allies intel is infinitely more important to them
-
and more harmful to us. I agree with you that laptops on a plane might not even matter. But this is speculation about how it could be worse

Does it make sense that he stepped in it, and those around him are pouncing to bury him over it? Seems possible based on your observations
