MSFT XP supports just one WannaCry does not: Arabic.

...but this isn't really a discrepancy. WannaCry targets "Win XP" to exploit, generically, all/any language version.

Now, it also detects the language, and tries to provide text in that language, but the code is the same.

The (stupid) flaw of WinXP is different "text" and different "code" for different languages. WannaCry has same "code" for all langauges.

One of the aspects of this thing that nobody is talking about is the quality of "weaponized" NSA exploits that work for all languages.

Historically, similar vulns (like Conficker) worked slightly differently (different "offsets") for different languages.

Conficker could not infect some machines because it wasn't customized to different languages. EternalBlue works better.
