FBI Director position is 10 year term -- not a lifetime judge, but longer than a POTUS term. A Trump appointee will do damage for long time

Trump is considering people who, categorically, would not prosecute big corporations. Also considering people who don't treat PoC equally.
-
So why would Dems not contest very notion that, by firing Comey to thwart RU investigation, Trump should have right to game LE for 10 yrs?
-
Answer is NOT to "just replace Trump's pick next time." There's a reason FBI Director has a 10 year term. STOP endorsing this politicization

And just goes to show the massive mistake President Obama made appointing a movement conservative for ten years because GOP howled
-
Comey's not a "movement conservative." If he were he'd have taken the loyalty oath.
-
Now, more than ever, it is VERY important to distinguish principled from movement conservatives.

Because they probably can't block it altogether, any more than they could block SC nomination. Might set a condition.
-
Sure. But that doesn't prevent them from screaming mightily about how ridiculous it is he's even picking someone.

Have you heard of the majority vote? This is why we are so screwed right now
-
Have you heard of the filibuster? Obstruction? BASIC MESSAGING?

@mikememoli@POTUS tells reporters on Air Force One he could make a "fast decision" on a new FBI director, perhaps even before foreign trip

Trump may or may not get tired of winning, but Dems never tire of losing.

Certainly shouldn't appoint an FBI director near the end of his time in office.

There is no mechanism for Democrats to stop him if Republicans are united in their support for the nominee. What do you suggest they do?
-
Start a public outcry. Push the message with their base. Or hell, I guess WE should just do it.
-
I'm all for activism but we gotta be honest with ourselves. That didn't stop the AHCA. Why would it work now?
-
AHCA still has to get past Senate. It's not over.
-
Of course but point is that it passed the house despite our activism and protest. Senate has even fewer moderate Rs who can be pressured.
