I get the utility of having FB be this entity. But I also get that FB has trained people not to trust them, independent of PRISM.

For consumers trust needs to go beyond spec (tho I will read it) to public corporate history bc we can have to use that to guess abt private

I've thought about this problem for a decade. Done from any other place I've worked nobody would care and it would make no difference.

At FB we've made the tech investments to do it right, have the scale to do it at no marginal cost/user and the reach to be taken seriously.

And I did the work w/our legal team to open source it so others can follow and make own offerings of what FB can make popular and available.
