The idea that there will be an uproar over NSA hacking a SWIFT processor is silly - anyone recall the uproar over the hacking of Belgacom?

You do know 1) NSA hacking SWIFT was made public in 2013 2) It did, in fact, create an uproar in the EU?

But this info was published in 2013, as you point out, so the response already occurred.

Well, there was ALSO an uproar over Belgacom. Just not here. But SWIFT remains a very sensitive subject.

The Belgacom incident was a lost opportunity to make an uproar - Belgium decided against it.

Sure. But it is pointedly NOT the case that the EU didn't make an uproar about SWIFT or that everyone believe it is resolved.

The SWIFT implementation goes to the core of whether EU has any sovereignty, any ability to enforce its laws. Pretty signature event.
