According to a Harvard study, before ACA ~45k *per year* died from a lack of healthcare access in the US. After ACA, mortality went up.

i doubt it's explicitly insurance tied, but the fact that ACA didn't help is a huge indictment.
-
The study you cite said ~45k/year died due to lack of coverage, and more died after ACA for same reason?
-
no comparable study i know of. but if you can't stem non-pandemic mortality with your healthcare plan, maybe it sucks.
-
I guess I'm confused as to your thesis.
-
the point of public health is to reduce mortality. the point of ACA was to get people "covered," not effective care.
-
The point of ACA wasn't to help the insurance industry?

and so many of the most vulnerable people couldn't use their insurance due to ridic deductibles.
-
Yup. But important to isolate bc TrumpCare cuts addiction treatment, even while crisis SHOULD justify special treatment
@jvagle -
oh, i'm not advocating for trumpcare, but acting like it was tickyboo until now pisses me the fuck off.
