the kind of intelligence that prioritizes easy-to-apprehend targets as opposed to actual criminal elements? not very impressive.

@joepabike Yup. Just wondering if they're collecting from schools and whatnot. Or using school surveillance. -
ugh. imagine if they were using actual humint sources/tips right? dropping a dime on your kid's classmate's undocumented parents
-
That's certainly possible but I don't know why you need to get there. So many cameras, so much metadata.
-
yeah after reading intercept's piece by woodman on palantir deportation engine, i can only imagine... keep up good work, you!

@emptywheel Obama's late-term order about wide inter-agency data-sharing may offer a clue... -
There shouldn't be that much ICE useful intel collected under 12333.
-
.
@emptywheel What do you see as ICE's intel source(s)?

@LOLGOP@BuzzFeedNews Most schools want to protect undocumented children, but all have employees who against their being there. -
That's my guess too. The awful lunch lady narcing on a kid's dad.
@LOLGOP@BuzzFeedNews -
If it did happen that way, almost certainly non-classroom staff. No teacher I ever worked with would mess with a kid this way.

Could probably do it just from cell tower triangulation, and studying patterns. School would be a firm obligation. Predictable.
-
I'm more curious about the legality here, and how we might resist. This is landing in a lot of communities, hard.
-
Like real time tower triangulations would suggest ICE is either receiving realtime NSA data or operating stingrays.
-
Wouldn't have to be NSA. A lot of agencies with access to that kind of thing.
-
Realtime, though? My understanding was that all other agencies had to request access. I may be wrong on this point.
-
no need for real time. a couple weeks of historical data.
-
Hell, you wouldn't even need that. Just knowing what school the kids go to, and how they arrive.
-
Yea -- traditional surveillance would go a long way here, but ICE doesn't have the bodies.

The info was always there. These terror troopers never had the authority to act under Obama. Now they are like letlose
-
They had the authority under Obama
-
If you are talking about ICE they did not. Well at least not with the blanket authority now. Obama did send records.
