There are several issues here: 1) convenience of policy/politics split 2) difficulty of archiving (which is worse now w/messaging apps) 1/2
-
-
-
3) avoidance of public records acts (something both Hillary & Pence guilty of)
-
Until we decide to start solving these issues, we resign ourselves to just yelling gotcha!! every 10 months.
-
Not to mention really facilitating the loss of evidence in cases of criminal conspiracies.

You really think it's the same thing? His wasn't illegal in the slightest. He wasn't running a pay to play slush fund as SoS.pic.twitter.com/QIpOTv6mgs
-
It was the same in that he was avoiding records laws (until forced not to) and making sensitive comms accessible to hackers.
-
Not even close to the same except the word "email". Pretty sure Indiana isn't privy to SAP material.

Except insofar as he tried to buck that rule, and insofar as he exposed sensitive stuff to hackers? Right.

More than a stretch to equate two. Mountain to a molehill, not even a molehill, perhaps an ant hill.

-
Nice twist. Wasn't illegal. Not excusing, definitely needs reported on. But it's a false equivalence to HRC's "situation".

records management: multi decade problem. partisan bad faith posturing / cherrypicking: just as intractable.

Yup. But that won't stop me from raising the issue every single time I cover another email scandal.

Legal teeth? Mandated server usage? Dunno. That's why we're on Twitter, to solve the world's problems, no?

Any lawyer will tell you to be super paranoid about email. It's cheap and easy but also a 'writing' in the sense of the law.
-
Hence discoverable.
-
Sure but those who own the servers have a way of avoiding at least the first records requests.
-
But not forever. Once they know it's there you're screwed.
