So let's review what we know: 1) In September, CIA briefed this, and McConnell (who's unreliable) didn't buy it. https://www.emptywheel.net/2016/12/09/unpacking-new-cia-leak-dont-ignore-aluminum-tube-footnote/ …

On Nov 26, the White House released an irresponsible (bc anon) statement downplaying RU influence. https://www.emptywheel.net/2016/11/28/white-house-attempts-unring-election-integrity-fearmongering/ …

More Dems: release the Kraken, release the Kraken! Finally, McCain, then Lindsey, joined in, by more Republicans.
-
CIA briefed again this week. WaPo's story is somewhat contradictory. Maybe consensus view among IC, maybe some "minor disagreements."
-
ALERT ALERT! Aluminum tubes were a "minor disagreement," relegated to a footnote we all wish Senators (incl most involved here) had read.
-
So today, White House says, "OK, let's do an all-IC assessment of CIA's theories, shall we?" Hours later, this leak occurs.
-
Effectively, this is CIA (and Dem Senators) trying to pre-empt the WH review. They've given you the answer, who needs more?
-
Trust me! I don't want Trump as President. I'd LOVE if there's good reason to declare him--& Pence!!--unfit. Yeah!! CIA saves US democracy!
-
But this is not, yet, all IC assessment.
-
If it is--esp if they'll share assessment! esp if proof it affected election--then by all means let's declare the election null and void.
