since when is the shore of the great lakes the border
-
Since Canada! It's weird though, I've been stopped on Greyhounds in Rochester NY b/c it's a "border town"
-
Really? What happened?
@Pliny_theElder -
This was in 2010, I was a intl student. They checked everyone's papers and one other intl student was taken
-
What nationality did he or she look like?
@Pliny_theElder -
He was Asian and English was not his first language. They definitely go after Asian intls more than they did me

oh boy. I didn't realize they counted the coasts too. I'm sure DHS Secretary [Kobach? Clarke?] won't abuse this authority
-
The ACLU MI suit follows some real incidents, often in Dearborn. ICE was being integrated into local LE, other random stops.
-
won't abuse it *more* I should have said. (Applies to...lots of things)

I find it fascinating that some huge percentage of Americans (80%?) live in a so-called border zone.
-
An even huger proportion of the 62M who voted for Hillary.

One question... why is Chicago considered to be in zone? It is 200 miles from Canada.
-
Ahh.. Because Chicago is a port of entry.
