Is there one country in the world where things are getting better or at least less authoritarian?

Ok ok. Y'all are right: Iceland is the exception that proves the rule. Are they getting better BECAUSE they threw out the banksters?

Definitely better: rather than austerity at home, offshore banks/creditors suffer. Doesn't generalize, as Mark Blyth points out.

Blyth's point (check him out) is never to favor austerity; rather Iceland small & not in EMU. Greece alas is in it.
