in parts of Chicago we have the connect the arrow paper ballot that gets run through a scanner and saved. No muss no fuss.

Yes. But have you ever seen anyone try to feed a bunch of those received absentee thru a voting machine at 9:00 at night?

no but don't imagine it would be too bad 1-2 sec each. Seems like simplest and safest system out there.

Wrong! The mailing process ends up leaving really heavy creases, which means they stick in the machine and it jams.
