Here's Obama's new Orange Alert scale for cyberattacks. Could you place DNC hack(s) in it? https://www.whitehouse.gov/sites/whitehouse.gov/files/documents/Cyber%2BIncident%2BSeverity%2BSchema.pdf … pic.twitter.com/wkz8xLVQ7T

FWIW, since I'm harping on there having been two separate attacks, APT29 is prolly 2, APT28 prolly 3-4.

The risk is for categorising individual breach severity rather than hacking groups, no?

Yes. But how would you classify OPM and all the related both USG and private entity hacks?

I think it's a good example of why a single scale is nearly meaningless. Eg OPM, Dncleaks and the Sony breach aren't comparable.

just spoke with @AndreiSoldatov, who pointed out that these groups will often sell/share info with each other.

APT 28 and 29, which have linked to GRU and FSB.

Yeah, one thing I'm wondering is if GRU got stuff from FSB that made them want to go after Clinton @pwnallthethings @AndreiSoldatov

which would make sense... as GRU is newer to cyber and has more aggressive reputation.
