I see the nuance and don't see how it helps. Or are you saying we screen known violent people for mental disturbances?

I'm saying the people who commit mass shootings in this country are mentally disturbed men w/past expression of violence.

Again, I'm NOT saying go after the haystack. I'm asking if FBI won't ID a needle IN HAND bc it's not the needle they're looking for.

I don't see how that practically shakes out to be different. "We have this loose profile" still seems to be driving

Please, from top: Are you arguing that male, history of violence, mental disturbance should have predictive weight for FBI?

No. Are you arguing that finding same, KNOWING those are precursors for mass killings, should be ignored when FBI stumble son them?

If they don't have predictive weight how can you but ignore them?

You're now advocating the FBI ignore violent behavior?

No, I'm genuinely confused how you can say a set of traits won't tell you anything useful and then factor in those traits.

No. If anything YOU'RE saying that violence plus mental disturbance won't tell you anything. I'm saying you shouldn't PROFILE for it

How FBI spends its time. In your scenario they're doing mass scans looking for same. In mine, they find it bc of reports.

OK. So they get a tip about two guys. But one is in the closet so that guy deserves higher suspicion?

Please STOP flattening the argument. Please? No. It's not closet, it's violence. Is it okay for LE to try to prevent violence?
