Why does the press organize a pooler to follow the president on every golf outing, but not send anyone to cover territorial primaries?
@nycsouthpaw There is no single person at the Guam caucus who, if he keeled over, the keeling over would be national news. See distinction?

@emptywheel no I don't. unexpected deaths of prominent people are not, like, the only engine of history. -
@nycsouthpaw I agree with that. But unexpected deaths of Presidents ARE a key engine of "news." -
@emptywheel of course. I'm just saying they should also all kick in and fly@OKnox to Guam for a weekend. -
@nycsouthpaw I think they'd rather send 5 more people to cover a Trump speech.@OKnox -
@emptywheel@nycsouthpaw don't think of it as "golf." The pool goes on every outing. Some just happen to be golf. -
@OKnox@emptywheel is there a reporter who stays up in the WH every night, in case he expires in his sleep? -
@nycsouthpaw@emptywheel no. But it's not just a death watch. Big announcements, reactions, & principle of seeing POTUS as much as possible
