Bringing the iPhone Ques back around to encryption is there a business model that satisfies both govt NatSec needs & consumer privacy needs?
-
-
@emptywheel Yes, they would, but I'm not convinced the market can support it. There are already high-end encryption phones available. -
@AllThingsHLS Recently had blind friend walk me thru standard blind access features on iPhone. Lots of value equations we don't "see"
-
@emptywheel There are LOTS of value equations we don't see. The question is what is the "avg" consumer willing to pay for given a choice? -
@AllThingsHLS No, it's not at all. For iPhones people are buying a garden that includes many features some users don't use.
-
@emptywheel Then what about, "What garden features are you willing to forgo for a cheaper Apple iPhone experience?" -
@emptywheel And since the market is worldwide, we have to consider more than just the American consumer. -
@AllThingsHLS You might better address this question by looking at the Kindle encryption kerfuffle.
