@aryballoi Germany has become a dictatorship and I missed it? Govt does bc people realize their lives are better for it. @lyda
@aryballoi It did lower cost increases, increase those covered. It did not deliver--as boosters claimed it woudl-- health care for all @lyda

@emptywheel@lyda Well, it's hardly surprising that it increased coverage. Fines tend to have that effect.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

@emptywheel@lyda I'm really more surprised by how many people, often but not always in my demographic bracket, "opted out" regardless. -
@emptywheel@lyda And it seems to be delivering significant cost increases, along with poorer coverage, for a swath of the middle class. -
@aryballoi That's not true at all. It mandates certain minimums (like wellness care) for non-grandfathered plans.@lyda -
@emptywheel@lyda As I recall, the set of "non-grandfathered" plans turned out to be a lot larger than the gov't claimed. -
@aryballoi Yup. Which, by definition didn't get worse.@lyda -
@emptywheel@lyda Beg pardon? The coverage worsened. The product they chose was replaced with an inferior, more expensive one. By fiat. -
@aryballoi Oh, you're talking abt something else entirely. But yes, limited#s of people were told by insurers they were ending plans@lyda
