@meekwire Then by ISIS? First mention of ISIS is the morning of the attack, isn't it?

@emptywheel I disagree. We've seen US jihadis first dig AQ or Shabaab then latch onto ISIS after caliphate declared (I.e. Elton Simpson). -
@meekwire Look, you are as much a consumer of the "jihadi narrative" as they were, from the other side. You might wait for actual evidence. -
@emptywheel 18 years of it, but the influence hasn't quite taken hold. You're making assumptions off an affidavit. I said it was incomplete. -
@meekwire I'm not making any assumptions. I'm saying we don't know, you're saying "let's repeat easy narrative in absence of evidence." -
@emptywheel backtrack. I said at the start that the FBI doesn't dump everything into affidavits. You said bayat to IS might be a distraction -
@meekwire Yes. In that in the absence of ANY of regular signs of ISIS affiliation, there might be another explanation. There might be!

@emptywheel what Farook & Malik had in common was violent Islamist extremism. They may not have known AQ & ISIS are at war with each other.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
