@lib_ertarian_ Sure, but that's for cutting costs. No one in right mind would replicate US insurance system to cut costs. VA maybe, Medicare -
@emptywheel :) VA has a nasty habit of cutting costs by denying care or providing negligent care and poor facilities. -
@lib_ertarian_ yes, tho they were reasonably good until Iraq/Afgh surge hit them. They were efficient tho, which private care is not. -
@emptywheel my out-laws are in the ACA loophole. we've gotten quite adept at getting them care and supplies cost effectively. -
@emptywheel mostly involves urgent care docs, charity clinics, and buying test equipment. e.g. just bought them a PT/INR tester. -
@emptywheel initial consumables make it $15 per test, limit case (just consumables) are $5 per test
