On second read, definition of "hacking" in Fred Upton bill would REALLY broadly expand definition of hacking to most hardware in car.
@HarleyGeiger Plus the fine is per thing you touch. Hackers would quickly add up more fines than entire $1M cap for privacy violations.

@emptywheel Seriously. And the prohibition on unauthorized access is completely unnecessary because of 1030(a)(2) and (a)(5) of the CFAA. -
@HarleyGeiger Think this is intended to do 2 things. 1) apply to really trivial hardware (at least drive train, but tire sensors, eg)
