@KimZetter They're are (were until 2009) used to get stuff like data flow info and--acc to DOJ, not me--GPS location. That's data.

@emptywheel But that refers to data collected and stored by a service provider, not data obtained directly by authorities using a stingray. -
@KimZetter Yes. And this is likely not up to date. Perhaps DOJ should release their PRTT IG Report so we know THAT's what they're using.
