But now that it's 2015 and a laptop or desktop w/ 4 or 8 physical cores (& double the logical cores) & 8 or 16 GB RAM is not very expensive.

Especially when you get into the range of 730+ different projects to build (and even more individual RPMs). No way would “Android.mk” scale.

Most of the packages that Tizen builds don't go on the device, unless you want to recompile Tizen on your phone or tablet…which you can do.

It's fascinating how phones are about 10 years behind a good PC or Mac. Today's smartphones are like a PC from 2006 (when Apple went x86).

When the iPhone 3G came out in 2008, it was about as powerful as an iMac G3 from 1998. Interesting parallel in the two names (3G vs. G3).
