Q: Did Israel give us assurances that Nusra Front, which with it has been playing footsie, would play nice with our trainees?

@emptywheel What's with this presumption of nefarious intentions of our only dependable ally and democracy, in the mideast? This is insane. -
@Tatiner Maybe the abundant evidence they're not "dependable"? Nor, if you're Palestinian, a democracy. -
@emptywheel What evidence? And The Palestinians wouldn't recognize a democracy if the Prophet brought it down from heaven. -
@Tatiner I'm going to decline to engage with someone who makes such statements, thanks.

@emptywheel You should read my Assadist/Hezbollah inciting the Druze mega-thread:https://twitter.com/Mario_Greenly/status/613752207557722112 …
-
@emptywheel There was a slow boiling campaign of incitement with Hezbollah affiliates leading Druze marches to the border, later attacks. -
@emptywheel So the "IDF is butt buddies with Nusra" narrative should be taken with caution given the actors involved in furthering it. -
@Mario_Greenly Playing footsie a bit different than the phrase you used. -
@emptywheel The suggestion that IDF would listen to Nusra for assurances is a higher level than footstie. :P -
@Mario_Greenly Mossad has great intelligence from a range of Arab entities, even those Israel is downright hostile with. -
@emptywheel Yes, great intel. I noted Nusra within view of IDF observation posts before. But taking and heeding 'assurances?' Nah.

@emptywheel it's a mindblowing thesis...but how does this relate to the Iran deal? -
@evanperez Just thinking out loud. Dunno, but w/every other ally allegedly put out by Iran deal we're stupidly supporting aggression.
