Tangent: Privacy folks—did I coin the phrase “bulky collection” (maybe at that meeting at CDT) or was that just in the air?
@empiricalerror I don't want credit. I think distinguishing "bulk" & "bulky" just shows that IC set terms of debate, not English @normative

@emptywheel@empiricalerror Hm. Possibly I saw it at Marcy’s blog, though wouldn’t be surprised if we independently hit on the same term. -
@normative@emptywheel@empiricalerror I remember David Medine using it - could probably find date if pressed. -
@RachelBLevinson I don't want it. I want us to call bulk, bulk, no matter what IC calls it. Reclaim English!@normative@empiricalerror -
@emptywheel@normative@empiricalerror Though I take point that it allows IC to narrow category & potentially deflect attention. -
@RachelBLevinson It allows claim of "ending bulk" w/o ending surveillance affecting hundreds of thousands.@normative@empiricalerror -
@emptywheel@normative@empiricalerror Well, yes - that's certainly true.
