.@emptywheel Disagree with you on Pistole. Actually he strongly RESISTED privatization of screeners & recognized their right to organize.
@TimothyS But that's why I think it so important that Pistole not be lauded now. There's zero evidence what he has rolled out keeps us safer

@emptywheel Agree on some policies. But overall I think the screeners do a pretty good job, and it's a shame they've taken so much grief.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

@emptywheel But on the issue I disagreed with you over, outsourcing, Pistole really held the line against privatizing screening. Not Obama. -
@TimothyS Where did I write anything abt outsourcing except to note how much cheaper TSA was than Booz (that is opposing outsourcing)? -
@emptywheel Just talking about your tweet I remarked on, concerning Pistole & Chertoff's machines. Not Booz - you know where I stand there! -
@TimothyS Right. But buying machines & doing more screening not abt outsourcing. It's abt abusing your workforce and enriching contractors -
@emptywheel Correct. I've always made a distinction between DoD buying weapons and DoD contracting out functions like intelligence analysis. -
@TimothyS My point was only intended to refer to stupid machines, which were, after all, what Chertoff made his $$ on. -
@emptywheel And mine was only that he supported his work force & held off Republican pressure to pawn their jobs to private security firms. -
@TimothyS Which I didn't know but applaud (also don't think you could do the job w/o having govt employed screeners).
