Of course, you could understand Apple/Google's default handset crypto as symbolic, but it's a stretch to say that it directly affects NSA.
@mattblaze Depends. Does govt (FBI) ever obtain "Frequent Locations" from Apple? Do they share w/NSA? Does CBP share border search results?

@emptywheel loc data is also available elsewhere, e.g. from carriers. And that's FBI, not NSA. People talk about this as resp to Snowden -
@mattblaze Right. But not in nicely analyzed form, like Apple does. And do YOU know what FBI's PRTT program, which shares data w/NSA, is?
