Story that says they intercepted convos claims they couldn't do same under Apple's new rules. http://www.washingtonpost.com/posteverything/wp/2014/09/23/i-helped-save-a-kidnapped-man-from-murder-with-apples-new-encryption-rules-we-never-wouldve-found-him/ … Huh? That's AT&T!
@anubiszz Or VZ or whatever. Point is, you would never go to Apple to intercept communications as they're being sent. They don't have them.

@emptywheel ok the interceptors/protectors just continue sucking data from telecoms and only lose photos stored on phones big f deal -
@anubiszz Yes. To lose access it'd 1) have to not have been sent via AT&T 2) not be stored in iCloud 3) person unwilling to unlock. -
@emptywheel only AT&T? whaddaboud Verizon? I understand the cloud part - IF it's really true we can opt out. I wish Myoshi Son wld get busy! -
@anubiszz That was just shorthand. Point is, telecoms still do telecom stuff. Apple provides a way to get to telecoms that also stores shit. - End of conversation
