What's funny w/people calling for Ginsburg to retire is they seem to forget how Dems love to use "do it for SCOTUS" to rally voters.
@armandodkos Sure. But if Ginsburg is replaced by Obama, Hillary can't run on "vote for me or all that Ginsburg represents will be lost."

@emptywheel Breyer is 74., Scalia, Kennedy are 78, . -
@armandodkos@adambonin Sure. But that's just not same urgency as "vote for me or most liberal member will be replaced by Miguel Estrada" -
@emptywheel@armandodkos And Breyer isn't an icon in the way RBG is. It's on RBG that the "we can't replace her with" is key. Like Marshall. -
@adambonin And I find it inconceivable that O would replace her w/someone similarly iconic.@armandodkos -
@emptywheel@armandodkos Short of Pam Karlan, I'm not sure that person exists. -
@adambonin Sure. But I would bet Hillary to come closer to iconic than Obama.@armandodkos -
@emptywheel@armandodkos We know how safe O's choices have been. It may only be projection to hope HRC's would be better. -
@adambonin They won't be qualitatively better, esp on corporatist issues. But symbolically prolly so.@armandodkos

@emptywheel@armandodkos There's always "the next Supreme Court vacancy" -- Scalia, Kennedy, Breyer are old enough to be in range.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
