Wondering if Amtrak--and those excited abt residency--have thought abt how dodgy network gets outside of NE.
@nycsouthpaw No. Because you're stuck waiting for train in chaotic wiating room.

@emptywheel@nycsouthpaw In my experience, Chicago Amtrak waiting room has been great place to people-watch, meet wide variety of travelers. -
@jpbng Maybe I'm just biased; had one not great & one horrible experience, horrible on day w/many long hauls delayed 9 hours.
@nycsouthpaw -
@emptywheel I've had intolerable delays, but others where the slowdown has been relaxing. Can see it being helpful to writers.@nycsouthpaw -
@jpbng Are there any nice workable restaurants at Union Station in Chicago?
@nycsouthpaw -
@emptywheel @jpbng@nycsouthpaw I got a decent burger at the bar on the main floor just off the open area -
@DanaHoule Will keep it in mind. Don't think I'll do Amtrak again until it's above freezing tho. @jpbng@nycsouthpaw

@emptywheel maybe in big cities. The stations I used to get stuck at (Charlottesville, Staunton) wouldn't ever qualify as chaotic. -
@nycsouthpaw Sounds lovely. Chicago is a hub, so you gotta get off one train and transfer to others. Not any great place to wait quietly.

@emptywheel + Charlottesville had a bar/restaurant that looked over the tracks so perhaps I'm biased.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
