If I am understanding the British "terrorism" definition correctly it says you don't have to be a typical "terrorist" to meet the definition
@BradMossEsq how so? the point about the terrorism designation is it is flexible, allowing the state to use it whenever it feels threatened.

@emptywheel Reviewing the ruling, it appeared they left "terrorism" acts broadly defined. Can engage in "terrorism" without being Bin LadenThanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

@emptywheel I personally have concerns that the language of the statute, intentionally or not, was left a little too vague. -
@BradMossEsq@emptywheel Yes, when it applies to journalists doing their job, it just might be a little too vague. -
@bmaz@emptywheel Miranda isn't a journalist. Or is my wife now a lawyer due to the fact that she's married to me? -
@BradMossEsq@emptywheel He was working for the Guardian at the time of his detention, so, yes he was. -
@bmaz@emptywheel He was an employee? On staff? Since when? Did I miss that? Being a temporary courier doesn't make you an employee. -
@BradMossEsq@emptywheel He was assisting Glenn and Laura and was on a trip booked and paid for by the Guardian. And, yes, that qualifies. -
@bmaz@emptywheel Is everyone who works at the Guardian a "journalist"? Is the janitor? The tech staff? The receptionist? -
@BradMossEsq So terrorist is an essentialist definition but journalist isn't? Curious.@bmaz - 1 more reply
