Can someone explain to me how this apparent leak by #Snowden is whistleblowing? Anyone? http://www.nytimes.com/2014/01/15/us/nsa-effort-pries-open-computers-not-connected-to-internet.html?hp&_r=0 …
@BradMossEsq Govt is making US consumers less safe, while fearmongering to make them give up civil liberties to adjust. That's huge problem.

@emptywheel I don't necessarily disagree but how is that related to installing malware on Russian/Chinese computers? -
@BradMossEsq BC we're NOT defending country. We're effectively leaving door unlocked & demanding everyone accept quartered troops to defend. -
@BradMossEsq Yes,@emptywheel makes a very valid point; this is another form of weakening our (everyone's) security, just as with SSL. -
@BradMossEsq@emptywheel Not comparable to physical surveillance; global reach of networks put cyber exploits in a class among themselves. -
@konklone@emptywheel So what's the proper tactic in cyber era? That's what I haven't had explained to me by critics. -
@BradMossEsq@emptywheel I admit, that's a much more complicated question. Easier to imagine appropriate defenses than limited offenses. -
@konklone@emptywheel And therein lies the policy and tactical debate -
@BradMossEsq@emptywheel A vital debate that we would not be otherwise having. Whistleblowing is more than exposing law-breaking. - 5 more replies
