@firetomfriedman @peterkofod This makes no sense as a domestically-aimed fabrication; the intel is irrelevant to the contested programs.
@normative Why couldn't this intercept be 702/XKeyscore, assuming it really exists? @firetomfriedman @peterkofod

@emptywheel I don't think Keyscore is for voice comms... COULD be intercept on a Skype conference (say). Would just be nuts to say so. -
@normative I think entire story is more plausible if it interprets "conference call" leniently. Still, it COULD be 702. -
@emptywheel@normative ap reports have "senior intelligence officials" claiming that AQ intercept had nothing to do w/702 (or 215 obv.) -
@mmasnick Do you have a link? I've only seen denial of link to 215 (which, as you said, should be obvious).@normative -
@emptywheel@normative http://bigstory.ap.org/article/state-dept-posts-19-countries-remain-closed … perhaps i'm reading too much into that statement -
@mmasnick Interesting they quote Schiff by name, bc he has said 215 didn't play a part.@normative

@emptywheel@normative@firetomfriedman@peterkofod -- The CIA could be encouraging a paranoid Al Qaeda mole hunt & purge.#WinWin -
@emptywheel@normative@firetomfriedman@peterkofod - The Snowden leak makes the NSA intercept angle more credible & less damaging.
