@emptywheel Then why did you describe it as a program to collect email data, not call log data? @BuzzFeedBen
@ericheggie Right. Tho I just asked whether feed on Awlaki used PRISM: Hasan did show, not tracked, Undie may not have shown (text tho)

@emptywheel their predictive models don't seem to work well -
@ericheggie Also, Hasan's more interesting behaviors were offline. Doesn't mean emails weren't evidence, just not most important. -
@emptywheel if Hassan's interesting things were offline it just proves once again the value of Humint over big data. -
@ericheggie To some degree, comes down to question of what is worth investigating w/limited time. Hindsight saws Hasan was. -
@emptywheel but that is why the NSA needs all this data. Betting their argument is all the data builds a predictive model so they can spot

@emptywheel that's the real question, why did it not is Hassan? We know he was emailing with awlaki still didn't stop him. -
@ericheggie Have you read Webster? 2 reasons: 1) he said suspicious but not PC things 2) FBI offices didn't play well together. -
@emptywheel haven't read Webster. And different offices in a bureaucracy not getting along? That's unpossible.
