@emptywheel #2. The decision to subpoena the AP records was probably that of the prosecutor not the agents. Too sensitive an issue.
@AllThingsHLS How, eg, does the FBI claim they've taken all reasonable steps b4 subpoenaing journos when prolly haven't interviewed Saudis?

@AllThingsHLS The DAG who doesn't have any WRITTEN delegated authority to sign them, you mean? ;-p
-
@emptywheel @AllThingsHLS I wonder what AUSA is actually attending to the GJ? Assigned out of the District or NSD? -
@bmaz @AllThingsHLS He is named in@charlie_savage's story on the notice AP got. Forget the name, but that's where it is. -
@emptywheel@bmaz @AllThingsHLS Jonathan Malis -
@charlie_savage Thank you! I knew where I read it but couldn't access right away.@bmaz @AllThingsHLS

@emptywheel I would not assume that they haven't interviewed all logical Saudis. The FBI has a vibrant liaison / Legal Attaché in Riyadh. -
@AllThingsHLS So Brennan admits he tipped the inside threat, he's not guilty. We know Saudis were confirming sources. They're not guilty.
-
@emptywheel I've read what Brennan said. IMO he said too much. -
@AllThingsHLS I get that he couldn't be prosecuted anyway bc he has no control of his yap. But then ... don't promote him!

@emptywheel They would not have made a decision to subpoena records unilaterally.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

@emptywheel IF this was a joint operation, the FBI would have had access to the Saudis involved / controlling the operation.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
