I hope Democrats go after the CIA with the same rigor Republicans are going after State.

@emptywheel torture, drones, private armies, secret prisons. CIA initially tried to cover involvement in Benghazi. They're out of control. -
@Galrahn Agree. But somehow no one can ever reel them in. In part bc all those things were built on a President's signature. -
@emptywheel if the President isn't willing to reel them in, then he's the problem, not the solution. That's his job. -
@Galrahn We knew Obama wasn't going to roll back the power grab Cheney made. That's what reeling in the CIA would take. -
@emptywheel I know you're right, I just hope it turns out different. No evidence that's a GOP end game though, so facts favor your point. -
@Galrahn Plus, if he wants revenge he may be more pliable to the Neocon puppetmasters than he might have been. -
@emptywheel I have no sense for the political end games here. Not really my lane, mostly because I don't care. -
@Galrahn Yeah, I sort of don't care. But Cheney's recent involvement in this, and that of Cheney's propagandist, are worth noting.

@emptywheel plus we only learned yesterday they tipped State of impending attack 24 hours prior, but never told DoD? WTF? -
@Galrahn I think we're still looking at the wrong place to understand Benghazi. Derna might be a better place to start. -
@emptywheel maybe, but the disfunction between federal agencies is a good starting point, because that's the Boston bombing story too. -
@Galrahn I actually think there are theaters where there's TOO much cooperation bt agencies, w/equally unsavory results. -
@emptywheel have you ever written about that? I am curious how you see that. -
@Galrahn Nah, it's just gut feel. Though I think Yemen is one where State's pretty central, tho obviously DOD has its own competing program
