@DaveedGR That's why I put my "scale" caveat. Just seems like even by scale this doesn't compare to other events. @dandrezner
@catfitz We actually don't know the cost. We actually don't know that he WAS extremist in 2011. Plenty of cases where harassment leads to it

@emptywheel I don't subscribe to the theory that poverty or unhappy childhoods create or justify terrorists or even explain them. -
@catfitz Nor do I. Where you and I differ is I'm not certain of a set of facts for which there is no evidence. -
@emptywheel I'd love another review of this $333 million; we don't know every lost work hour isn't being regained, etc. -
@catfitz The $333M assumes that. W/o assuming it cost would be $1B, which is business of Boston in a day.

@emptywheel That hardly seems credible. He was already radicalized by then and went to his homeland & likely recruited there. So it seems. -
@catfitz We don't know ANY of that. You're just assuming that not shutting down city would have been worse, assuming a lot else, too. -
@emptywheel I'm not seeing the harm of shutting down the city as if it were a "snow day," which is what Guiliani declared on 9/12/
