John Brennan Refuses to Deny the Government Collects US Person Data with No Predicate http://www.emptywheel.net/?p=33354
@securitycowboy That's a reference to Section 215. You know: all the acetone purchases in the US?
-
-
@emptywheel the communications and transaction mechanisms are to globally intertwined with many facilitated by US corps. -
@securitycowboy Again, you're not even coming CLOSE to addressing what this is: domestic collection of exclusive domestic data. -
@emptywheel because some information sources it is difficult to discern origin during collection. -
@securitycowboy If you ask for info on all acetone purchases IN THE US, how is it hard to know they came from IN THE US? -
@emptywheel the story deals with larger issues than just acetone purchases in US. -
@securitycowboy Thanks. LIke I said, when you catch up to very basic issues, I'm happy to engage. You've got some work to do until then.

@emptywheel didn't answer the question. Is it possible today to meet requirements on foreign threats without collecting all data? -
@securitycowboy No, I pointed out you didn't even know what that was a reference to. Once you catch up, check back in, okay? -
@emptywheel I do understand the reference dear. All federal agencies are not equal. CIA/NSA different than FBI. -
@securitycowboy Warning: People who obviously don't know WTF they're talking about who call me dear get blocked.

@emptywheel I argue that once data is determined to be US it should be discarded but that pervasive collection is required. -
@securitycowboy So if they're collecting EXCLUSIVELY acetone purchases in US, then they can throw it all out? You're not making sense.
