@grumpybozo It seems utterly NORMAL for me for DOJ's highly politicized prosecutions. That it involved SS and not FBI is not the issue.
@grumpybozo And then there's the question why _MIT_ would have to go to CMU? Or is that the problem you're referencing? ;p

@emptywheel I have not dug into the docs to understand that detail. Are you sure they went to CMU CERT and not to their own internal CERT? -
@grumpybozo "“CERT” ... refers to CM computer response team which provides assistance to USSS with complex computer & internet issues" -
@emptywheel So SS brought in help from CERT? -
@grumpybozo Doesn't that refer not JUST to forensics on the laptop, but the earlier access through the login. (Refers to other computers) -
@emptywheel Yes. flow is flow. On MIT wires. I’m guessing they took their problem here: http://www.cert.org/forensics/ -
@grumpybozo tho this seems to suggest JSTOR, at least, didn't notice anything in that Nov-Dec period, until Jan 3. http://is.gd/VdDARY -
@emptywheel More likely the JSTOR admins who blocked all of MIT got a scolding from mgmt, told to give MIT time to fix their problem. -
@grumpybozo Anyway, thanks. Off to bed.
