@emptywheel @mattyglesias Can you describe the manufacturing jobs that you know of that require a college education? Thanks.
@mattyglesias Maybe because in the last ignorant post you wrote you suggested manufacturing doesn't require education?

@deflationista You mean starting with engineering? -
@emptywheel When politicians say that our manufacturing jobs have been shipped overseas, do you think they are talking about engineering? -
@deflationista They're talking abt range of jobs, including labor intensive but also high tech. And increasingly engineering/programming. -
@emptywheel Fair enough. I think what most people think of when they hear "manufacturing" jobs is assembly line, entry level type of stuff. -
@deflationista That may be fine for "most people" but not for someone who fancies himself a pundit on it. That's the point! -
@emptywheel@mattyglesias Here is a chart that breaks down manufacturing jobs based on education level:pic.twitter.com/AmAXBhXp

@deflationista And note that education levels in manufacturing are--for better and worse--increasing. - 3 more replies

@emptywheel I read you all of the time and agree. Matt's a guy, more mainstream and a bit condescending. But I don't see your point here.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
