@AdamSerwer Which: the giving insurance companies more customers that Clinton mentioned?
@AdamSerwer Bracketing off finance and civil liberties/rule of law? I'd probably agree with that. But that has nothing to do w/liberalism.

@emptywheel comparing Obama to Clinton without bracketing off those things and Obama still comes out better. Who started rendition? -
@AdamSerwer Which is why I objected with the way you initiated this discussion, about "liberal" policies--neither is liberal. -
@emptywheel excluding black people from social security wasn't particularly liberal either but I'm glad social security exists -
@AdamSerwer But GIVING social security is different than GIVING terrible private companies captive customers. -
@emptywheel and yet like SS, there are obvious things liberals can do to alleviate its worst aspects. Couldn't if it didn't exist. -
@AdamSerwer And regardless, that doesn't make it a LIBERAL policy. My gripe is in your assertion it is. It's not. -
@emptywheel as I said earlier, it's a conservative means to a liberal end, which is covering more people. - 5 more replies
