Let me be specific. How could the FBI's definition of terrorism be better? RT @BrianHubbs1: The FBI's def of terrorism is not very good BTW.
@AllThingsHLS What do you think the purpose of calling a crime terrorism should be? That seems like the better question.

-
@emptywheel The only real reason to call a crime terrorism is for domestic POLITICAL consumption. Murder is murder, bombing is bombing. -
@AllThingsHLS One of most interesting cases, IMO, is Scott Roeder, which wasn't (AFAIK) initially considered terrorism.
-
@emptywheel I agree that Roeder's crime is an interesting case with which I am familiar. IMO This would definitely be considered DOMTERR -
@AllThingsHLS Agree it should, but at least acc to public reporting, it wasn't at first. So it left out possibility of coordinated actions.
-
@emptywheel These are recurring problems in all of LE. Not considering all possibilities/use of bifurcated investigations to cover all leads -
@AllThingsHLS Yeah. I just think BC terrorism is so politicized it means certain crimes are not investigated as such, we miss networks.
-
@emptywheel Terrorism is definitely politicized to the detriment of better/more thorough investigations. The Ivins case is a perfect example
