Anyone? MT @emptywheel: If Wade Page had 14 words tattoo in 1995, why didn't it violate Army restrictions on tattoos? http://bit.ly/MxTKw1
@drjjoyner Tattoos are but military prohibits white supremacist ones. They've overlooked that reg more as lowered entrance reqs. @intelwire

@emptywheel@drjjoyner Was the prohibition on supremacist tattoos a result of the 1995 murders at Fort Bragg, or did it pre-date? -
@intelwire Almost positive it was prohibited in the late 1980s during my tenure. Don't recall it being an issue.@emptywheel

@emptywheel Mid-1990s were a tough time for recruitment, so possible. Swastika, KKK symbol, etc. would have been barred, certainly. -
@drjjoyner That's what I'm wondering. Bc there are reports we're showing the same tolerance for supremacist tats now. -
@emptywheel Do we yet know why he was discharged? It was Other than Honorable. Maybe he got the tattoo post-enlistment?@intelwire -
@drjjoyner@emptywheel The official record does not reflect the tattoos or anything extremist. -
@intelwire Unfortunately, Journal Sentinel doesn't source the claim that he had the tats back in 1995. -
@emptywheel Still a lot of confusion working its way through the system on this.
