Here's a point a reader made: 1) The 65-woman letter came b4 Dr. Ford's name became public (and some people withdrew after her name did become public). 2) So Ford should, at least conceivably, have been invited to join the letter. 1/n

I'd say this sounds right. Dr Ford hasn't lived around there for a long time, it's very possible she doesn't keep in touch with these other women.
-
I know I wouldn't.
-
If I never saw a person I went to high school with ever again I wouldn't be sad - and I live thousands of miles away now. Were this exact thing to happen with a guy I knew, even closely, in high school, I doubt I'd be contacted.

I am 51. I was raised a liberal catholic in Youngstown, Ohio. I then went to a Jesuit college with dudes from GTown Prep. These ultra conservative catholics are a cult. Dr Ford does not fit-in with these ultra conservative catholics like Brett Kavanaugh.

Hum, Dr Ford moved to California long ago thus it seems that she moved on from her high school & country club social circles. + Dr Ford is a very nice person, she may not fit-in with DC Gen X folks who are still stuck in highschool mode. I don't find this theory very useful.

Remember that according to a parent who sent children to these schools about this time period, Jim Zogby, several signatories would have been in 4th grade when Kavenaugh was 17, but virtually no one in the press is following up on that 9-18 Politico storypic.twitter.com/L11YbcZUNc

My guess is because diving into these women's personal lives is very inappropriate.
-
Finding out whether they were old enough to have any idea what BK could have been up to at age 17 is a valid question: they put their names out in the public square as endorsers, so it’s very appropriate to inquire into the validity of their judgment & age is a criterion of that
-
I disagree.
-
As a retired attorney, I’m confident each of the signatories will be interviewed by the FBI, & were I a journalist I’d at least be looking into their ages, since that letter was entered into evidence by BK: they have no right to complete privacy after making a public endorsement

Absolutely--and I never thought about the significance of Blasey Ford not being asked to sign before you pointed it out here. I wonder if any of her friends/people in her circle are also part of that circle. (Ugh, I thought I left high school cliques behind!)
