There are actually far more interesting lefty bogeymen (with the advantage that they're actually left!), ones who think they've studied the details, but explaining why they're skeptical would require more nuance.

Marcy is this really the hill you want to die on?
-
I don't plan to "die" on it. I plan to point out how stupid it is for people to use Glenn as a foil rather than looking at the reasons actual lefties react against this stuff.
-
Glen has shady associations with Assange and denies Russia attempted to compromise the 2016 election. He recently cleansed his Twitter of a lot of this. Which he has blasted others for doing. His reputation isn't close to what it once was and you are seeing that play out.

Let's pretend for a moment that's true. Then the entire discussion of him in the NYT piece is factually wrong.

Because he’s a dumb asshole and he burned Reality Winner, who is in prison and willcontinue to be for quite a while
-
How did he burn Reality Winner if he had nothing at all to do with the story?
-
His organization that claims to be hip to modern security practices released material that led to her identification and arrest
-
You didn't say The Intercept "burned" her. You said I, personally, did. I don't run or edit the Intercept. I had no involvement in the story. TI acknowledged its errors. Blaming them on me personally proves you don't give a shit about Reality Winner. Also:https://twitter.com/bjwinnerdavis/status/1021931725134409731 …
-
Why are you listed at https://theintercept.com/about/ as the "Co-founding Editor and Columnist"?
-
Because I co-founded the Intercept in 2013, and currently write and report there. The editor-in-chief is Betsy Reed, and I can't help but conclude that the reason people refuse to recognize that she really runs the Intercept as EDITOR-IN-CHIEF is because she's a woman.

Lmao ok nice dodge dude

You really want to defend a man who compared Paul Manafort to victims of racial bias from the police?pic.twitter.com/apguZ0y0ap
-
I'm not actually defending Glenn. I'm saying the treatment of him as the one "lefty" opposed to the RU investigation is false and stupid.
-
If the solution is to just ignore him and treat him the same way we treat everyone who goes on Tucker Carlson’s White Power Hour, I’m all for it! I’m glad you think his remarks comparing Paul Manafort to victims of racial bias by the police are not worth defending...

The problem with Greenwald is that's he's got nothing interesting to say. His adopted role of Twitter anklebiter is hardly worth $500,000 a year. He's a bore and produces little of note.
-
Great. They make someone with something interesting to say the bogeyman.
-
He's skeptic to the extreme, which is ok, but it's boring because all the anti-imperialists say the same things.
