This was obvious from the way this went down. Mueller got him to do ... something with that 1.5 hour delay this morning. So it's too late for Trump to avoid that testimony w/a pardon.https://twitter.com/DelWilber/status/1040622275735822337 …

Marcy, are u saying I am repeating an obstruction meme? I am simply observing that there could be impacts of a pardon beyond Mueller's legal case, at least as I heard it including from some Dem electeds who speculated that Manafort was about to flip before Friday
-
Anyone who suggests Mueller is pursuing obstruction as the primary issue against Trump at this point is doing Rudy's PR work for him.
-
Didn't say it was primary concern, but wld also b wrong 2 argue it isn't part of what he is exploring. A pardon of Manafort now would go to state of mind as part of a pattern, & my response to you was also about political implication. Agreed that pardon doesn't help Manafort now
-
Mueller is so far beyond the place where he's "exploring" obstruction. Does he have Trump dead to rights on it? Yup. And while a dangled pardon might be more compelling than Comey, he's already go plenty of evidence. But at this point obstruction charges are just tactical.
-
I don't disagree. But apropos a pardon, partially quoting Seth Waxman: "if the president were to pardon Manafort under these circumstances, the case against the president for obstruction of justice would be even more compelling"
